Ms. Hazel Moseley Jefferson, 74, of Roanoke Rapids, NC passed away peacefully at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, NC on Sunday evening, January 24, 2021.

She was one of four children born to the late Wiley and Clarice Moseley on February 25, 1946 and was raised near her large extended family in Brunswick County, VA. 

Hazel was a faithful Christian, worshiping as a member of Victory Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, NC where she sang in the choir and often assisted in the nursery. She exercised her faith by always looking to serve others through kindness and generosity. 

Her hobbies included traveling throughout the year with immediate and church family and going to yard sales on Saturdays with close friends. 

She is lovingly remembered by many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: Tammy and Donnie Harris of Roanoke Rapids, NC and her daughter and spouse Stephanie and David Bruton of Charlottesville, VA and their children Sadie, Ana, Micah, and Silas; Polly and Gary Nethercutt of Henrico, NC; Donna and Jimmy Smith of Roanoke Rapids, NC and their sons Brock Smith of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Logan Smith and fiancé Brianna Jones of Greenville, NC; Russell and Alice Jefferson of Littleton, NC and their son Richard; Jennifer and Jamie Gunter of Albertson, NC and their son Jathan; and Bobbie and Shaun Daughtry of Faison, NC and their daughter Gracie Lee. 

She is also survived by two sisters, a brother, and their spouses: Mildred and the late Wade Richardson of Gasburg, VA, Rosalee and Freddie Hammack of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Steve Moseley and Brenda Harrup of Gasburg, VA as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  

The family of Ms. Hazel Jefferson wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the caring staff at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital. 

Visitation will be held at Victory Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, NC on Monday, February 1 at 1:30PM followed by a memorial service at 2:00. 

Guests are encouraged to attend virtually on the Victory Baptist Church website. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Roanoke Rapids, NC. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Victory Baptist Church.

Due to Covid guidelines, face coverings and social distancing are recognized.
