Michael Shane Thompson (Mike) passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday January 27, 2021.

Mike was born on November 19, 1968 to Ruby Thompson and Melvin Thompson.

He was a longtime employee of Flambeau in Weldon and greatly enjoyed his job until they closed, and yet still often spoke about it.

Mike was a wonderful father, and was sure proud of his 2 granddaughters. He loved spending time and playing with them, whether it be walking around the house with headbands and pocketbooks, playing "cops and bad man" or playing grocery store, he was there and enjoyed every second of what they did.

He also enjoyed taking the oldest on a bike ride around the block, even though he would end up carrying the bike back half way home. He also loved being around his two grand pups, Sophie and Stormy.

Along with being an amazing father and PaPa, he was also a loving son to his mom who he cared for most of his life, until she recently passed away a couple years ago. He was his mothers primary caregiver, making sure she made every appointment and had everything she needed.

Mike was a kind person who would go out of this way to say hello when he saw people he knew, and anyone that knew him knew he had an extreme sense of humor and would always come up with the funniest jokes as his personality and love for humor was always shown. His cousins remembered when Mike had a bedroom full of toys when he was younger, from the floor to the ceiling, if it was a new toy he had it.

Mike was always the first to volunteer to help Anthony put things together around the house for Monica or his granddaughters, and anytime he had to hang something for her he would always say, "you better make sure it's lined up, or she's going to make you take it down and redo it, you know she'll always notice when something isn't straight."

Him and his daughter went hand in hand, and when she was younger not a weekend went by that they didn't make a trip out of town. For years, they had a Sunday routine of going out to eat and making their Sunday trip to Walmart. They made an extreme amount of memories in her 27 years of having him and will cherish every moment and will forever be thankful for the time they had together.

Mike is survived be his daughter Monica (Root) and fiance Anthony Thacker; granddaughters Kenzleigh and Kennedy Thacker; Aunt, Pricilla Downie; cousins,  Bryan Holdford, Linda Brewer (James), Jerry Arwood (Lisa), Terry Arwood (Diane), Will Arwood (Tammy), Pam Jones; his special friend Jeremy Seth Gordon; and also his large group of cousins, and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his mother Ruby Thompson, father Melvin Thompson and brother Melvin Thompson JR.

His family, especially his daughter and granddaughters, will truly miss him but his love will always be alive in their hearts.

Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.   Following the visitation, Mike will be cremated and other services will be private.  Those attending are asked to observe mask and social distancing recommendations.
