In addition to his mother he is survived by his sister Crystal Horne (Chris), Brothers Donnie Brooks III (Tina) and William Phipps Jr.(Beth) Nieces Katie Matthews (James), Taylor Brooks, Allyson Horne and Sadie Phipps and Nephews Landon Brooks, Lucas Phipps, Leo and Logan Matthews And Several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Growing up with JJ his siblings always knew he was their mom's favorite.

JJ was the youngest of four but if you ever asked their mom she only had one.

He was her baby and whole world!  JJ loved his family and his siblings but the love for his nieces and nephews shined so bright and you could see it with every encounter he had with them.

JJ was a welder and an electrician by trade, but his passion was music.  He had aspirations to pursue a career in music and in his words “He was about to blow up.”

Those were words he lived by.

He enjoyed playing basketball and spending time with his friends. He was always surrounded by people.  He was wide open and did not know how to slow down.  He truly enjoyed life and he will be remembered by every person he's ever met.

The family will be receiving friends on Friday November 5th, 2021, at Hockaday Funeral Home from 7pm-9pm. Graveside services will be held Saturday November 6th, 2021, at 12:00 Noon at Cedarwood Cemetery. Memorial Denotations can be made to Hockaday Funeral Home.
