The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office this evening confirmed an apparent murder-suicide which occurred in the Hollister community earlier in the day.

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported an arrest in a January 9 assault and the City County Drug Task Force reported heroin was found wrapped in a lottery ticket following a Monday night traffic stop.

Woman faces multiple firearm larceny counts

A Roanoke Rapids area woman has been charged with multiple firearm larceny counts following investigation of a December residential break-in in the Aurelian Springs area.

A shooting death which occurred outside Roanoke Rapids Monday appears not to be suicide, Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp said this afternoon.

The City County Drug Task Force is seeking a man after warrants were filed for his arrest today for possession of Oxycodone and Suboxone strips.

Two more people, including one who was arrested in a Roanoke Rapids area murder this weekend and one who took a plea in a 2014 shooting, have been charged in the August murders of four elderly people in the Glenview community.

HCSO seeks help in Information area B&E

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a breaking and entering of a residence near Information Grocery on December 16.  

Two brothers were charged Sunday with filing a false police report they were stabbed in a business parking lot off West Tenth Street.
