RRPD, COP set Hurricane Matthew food drive Saturday

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department and its Citizens on Patrol will have two weekend events — one Friday and one Saturday.

Pack the Bus, an initiative by Halifax County Schools, delivered more than $10,000 worth of clothing and supplies to Edgecombe County Schools, one of the areas hit hard by Hurricane Matthew.

Public works lauded for Matthew efforts

The Roanoke Rapids Public Works Department was lauded for its efforts during and after Hurricane Matthew last week.

The Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District reported nine wastewater spills totaling an estimated 140,220 gallons which began Saturday and ended Sunday.
