Pool dehumidifier estimates come in at $250K range

The cost to replace a broken dehumidifier at the Roanoke Rapids Aquatic Center is between $126,000 and $132,000, a consulting engineer told city council this evening.

A Thursday meeting between city officials and black community leaders left both sides with an agreement to continue talks, participants said in statements released today.

Black community leaders and Roanoke Rapids city officials plan to meet Thursday to discuss issues arising from the use of a Taser on a 15-year-old boy in April.

Fund balance discussed for city vehicle needs

City council may not immediately make a decision on whether to go with installment financing to make critical vehicle purchases after one of its members discussed the option of pulling the nearly $600,000 from the undesignated fund balance.

Roanoke Rapids City Council will hold a public hearing next Monday night to garner citizen comments on the purchase of 15 vehicles by using installment financing.
