Tuesday night gas leak required no evacuations

A gas leak outside Signature HealthCARE late Tuesday night forced no evacuations of the facility on East Fourteenth Street, according to the Roanoke Rapids Fire Department.

Rocky Mount man dies in I-95 crash

A Rocky Mount man died Monday in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 95.

The city has been awarded a $200,000 North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund Grant which with funds received from the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust and local matching funds will mean $400,000 allocated for improvements at Chaloner Recreation Center.
