In one day, the Roanoke Rapids Police Department captured two fugitives, one from Florida and one from New Jersey and arrested one man for harboring the Florida fugitive.
The next step following a public hearing today on the potential tolling of Interstate 95 will be to begin lobbying federal legislators and officials against the measure, Roanoke Valley Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Allen Purser said.

The Weldon Police Department is investigating a robbery which occurred shortly before 8:15 p.m. Sunday at the Family Dollar on Second Street and the Northampton County Sheriff's Office is investigating one which occurred shortly after 11:45 p.m.
