Roanoke Rapids attorney Thomas Dixon has announced his candidacy for district court judge for District 6, which includes Halifax, Northampton, Bertie and Hertford counties, in the upcoming March 5 primary.
There will be a two-way race for the Judicial District 7 district court judge seat 3 between Takiya Lewis Blalock, an Ahoskie attorney, and Roanoke Rapids attorney Thomas Earl Dixon, according to the Halifax County Board of Elections.
With one of its new fire engines expected to be delivered sooner than anticipated, city council Tuesday granted a request from Roanoke Rapids Chief Jason Patrick to allocate $150,000 to equip the truck.
