With an undisclosed company considering locating in an existing building for its wholesale trade and distribution operations, Halifax County commissioners approved a resolution Monday night for the economic development commission to request $500,000 in assistance from the state’s Building Reuse Grant project.
As the state continues to debate the future of casinos in select areas of North Carolina, Halifax County commissioners on a 3-2 vote Monday night shot down a resolution that would have thrown support to the city of Roanoke Rapids in its efforts to have the Carolina Crossroads Entertainment be considered as one of those sites.
Two armed men who entered Becker Village Mall after midnight this morning with the help of a person who opened a back door for them were thwarted from robbery due to the targeted business’s doors being locked, according to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.
