Roanoke Rapids City Council Tuesday honored two employees who announced their retirements earlier — Wes Hux of the fire department and Linwood Bowser of the public works department.
Not only will all Roanoke Rapids employees receive a 5 percent cost of living adjustment, they will receive a $500 bonus as well.
Shane Guyant, who currently serves as a lieutenant with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, has been named the new chief of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.
