The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Halifax County for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020.

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office has identified the person who died in a Tuesday evening pursuit which originated at Highway 903 and ended in Virginia as a 24-year-old Philadelphia man.
While Halifax County has climbed into the orange category of positive COVID-19 cases which indicate a substantial community spread, it remains only one of seven in that position, health department Director Bruce Robistow said. The rest are in the red category.
