Roanoke Rapids City Council Monday night agreed by consensus to move forward with its budget for the upcoming fiscal year and to hold a public hearing on the matter at its June 16 meeting at Lloyd Andrews City Meeting Hall.
The total cumulative positive cases of the novel coronavirus since testing began is at 212, the Halifax County Health Department reported this afternoon.
Weldon police Chief Chris Davis reported the following:
Work has begun resurfacing a 1.2-mile section of Julian R. Allsbrook Highway — Highway 158 — from Smith Church Road to Country Club Road.
A Weldon man was arrested and charged Saturday in an assault and sexual crime which occurred June 3 in the area of Aurelian Springs and Branch Farm roads in the Roanoke Rapids area.
