Halifax County Sheriff's Office narcotics agents seized cocaine and marijuana at a house on Airbase Road outside Roanoke Rapids Friday morning after receiving numerous complaints from residents in the area.
Lieutenant Scott Hall said officers arrested Travis Johnson, charging him with felony possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Deputy Jason Keeter and his dog, Broady, located marijuana, cocaine and digital scales that had been tossed in the nearby brush in an attempt to hide the drugs from deputies, Hall said.
The search was aided by Lieutenant Neil Aycock, Sergeant Steve Allen and Deputy Mike Almendarez.
Johnson was jailed on $10,000 secured bond. There was 8.8 grams of cocaine and 27 grams of marijuana seized.
