A Friday raid by Halifax County Sheriff's Office narcotics and criminal detectives as well as uniformed officers resulted in the seizure of marijuana, a firearm and body armor.

Narcotics Agent J. Puhak declined to go into specifics, only to say the arrest of Cecil Kurrenthes “Sincere” Ransom in the P&J community outside Roanoke Rapids was a product of an ongoing investigation.

Ransom, 30, who has a lengthy criminal record, including a prior conviction of possession of a firearm by a felon, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Ransom was jailed on $20,000 bond and has a March 7 court date. “Arrests such as these are good for the citizens of Halifax County, securing a safer community,” Puhak said in a press release.
