The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is investigating embezzlement and equipment theft at Ihrie Supply that has resulted in losses of more than $100,000.
Stolen cash and equipment represents a total $117,462 loss to the company, according to a press release from Captain Andy Jackson.
The cash and equipment thefts occurred from January of 2009 to September of 2011 and were reported to police October of last year.
A large part of the investigation centers on the sale of Freon and the money from its cash sale allegedly being pocketed.
Because of this the police department is asking for the public’s assistance in the investigation as it is looking for anyone who may have bought Freon from the company and paid cash but did not get receipts.
The customers who bought the Freon are not suspected of wrongdoing but their cooperation is needed to further investigate the embezzlement and thefts.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call Detective Sergeant Jeff Baggett at 252-326-3941 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
