An Enfield man who was sitting in the roadway Saturday morning was struck and killed by a man who was charged with DWI.

The crash occurred shortly before 6:30 a.m. on Sorietown Road, about 5 ½ miles northeast of Enfield, according to an initial report by Trooper L. Bynum of the state Highway Patrol.

The driver, Toron Coley, 30, of Hollister was driving south on Sorietown Road when he struck Robert Sears Jr., 31.

Coley struck Sears, who was sitting in the roadway.

It is unclear why Sears was sitting in the roadway and determination on whether alcohol was involved on his part remains under investigation.

Coley was charged with DWI and the investigating trooper will meet with the district attorney to determine whether more charges will be filed against him.
