A Roanoke Rapids man was arrested last week for allegedly stealing and selling a rifle taken during a January 14 breaking and entering on Charlotte Street.
Roanoke Rapids police charged 18-year-old Aaron Skyler Riggan of Virginia Street with larceny of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and obtaining property by false pretense.
Detective Sergeant J.W. Baggett arrested Riggan following an investigation after police were summoned to 700 Charlotte Street on a break-in and larceny call.
The victim found entrance was made through the front door and a .22-caliber rifle, along with $40 in cash, was taken.
Police said the obtaining property by false pretense count stemmed from Riggan allegedly selling the weapon, which was recovered.
Baggett arrested Riggan on March 7. He has a May 1 court date.
