Halifax County Sheriff’s Office investigators believe a Saturday night shooting outside a convenience store was not a random act.
Lieutenant Scott Hall said this afternoon the victim was shot once in the head as he sat in a vehicle as a passenger in the Community Marathon lot. The store is located off Highway 158 near Zoo Road.
The sheriff’s office continues to work leads in the case, Hall said in a news release and no suspect information is being released.
Investigators believe robbery is a possible motive.
The victim is in stable but critical condition.
Hall said he could neither confirm nor deny whether a weapon was recovered.
