A man sought for statutory rape in Enfield was taken into custody late Saturday night in the Franklin County community of Centerville.

Jermaine Moody was jailed on $200,000 bond and has a January 28 court date. He was also served with a warrant for failure to appear in court for a DWI. A $250 cash bond was set in that case.

Moody was captured following surveillance by Lieutenant Jerry Powell of the Enfield Police Department.

Powell said in a statement it was believed Moody was staying in the Centerville area. He was reportedly seen entering a vehicle and leaving a residence on Laurel Mill-Centerville Road with a woman.

They were followed to a convenience store where Moody was taken into custody by Franklin County Sheriff's Office deputies Matt Tharrington Antoine Eaton.

Powell was appreciative of the assistance from not only Franklin County authorities, but Halifax County law enforcement. “The Enfield Police Department would like to thank Sheriff Wes Tripp of Halifax County and Sheriff Kent Winstead of Franklin County and their deputies with the assistance rendered by both agencies during the attempts to locate Moody over the last several weeks.”

Moody was wanted in a statutory rape case that reported involved a 13-year-old.
