Roanoke Rapids police are looking for Terry Louis Kearney Jr., a 19-year-old who victims say fired shots at them Sunday afternoon.

It is unclear what prompted Kearney to fire the shots from the street around 4:30 p.m., Chief Chuck Hasty said.

Kearney is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached, Hasty said in a statement.

Master Officer Mark Peck investigated the matter and gathered evidence to obtain warrants for four counts of assault by pointing a gun; going armed to the terror of the people and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Kearney tends to frequent the downtown area, Hasty said.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to call the police department at 252-533-2810 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
