A Seaboard man will have a May 28 court appearance after being charged late last month with a count of indecent liberties with a child.

Captain M.D. DeLoatch Sr. of the Northampton County Sheriff's Office said the charge against Lee Tann, 34, reflects a sex offense against an underaged child who is a family member.

The arrest stems from a complaint lodged by the Halifax County Department of Social Services and assigned to Lieutenant C. Williams for investigation.

The investigation showed the offense occurred sometime between December 1 of last year and March 31 of this year.

While the date of the offense is vague, DeLoatch said evidence collected at the TEDI Bear Child Advocacy Center in Greenville reportedly showed a sex offense occurred.

Tann was arrested on April 29.

“The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office is committed to investigating all complaints that come into our office,: Sheriff Jack Smith said in a statement. “We would like to thank the Northampton County Department of Social Services and Halifax County Department of Social Services and Lieutenant Williams for their efforts and hard work during this investigation.”
