Major Scott Hall reported Sergeant Dreher Bozard arrested two men after investigating a breaking and entering of a hunting club in the Enfield area previously reported on October 2.

Bozard arrested and charged Jaleen Johnson, 19, and Garfield Williams, 23, both of Enfield, with breaking and entering, felony larceny, felony possession of stolen property, trespassing on posted property, and injury to real property.

Both men were placed in the Halifax County Detention Center under $2,500 secured bonds with a November 18 court date pending.

Medlin

Hall said around 5 p.m., deputies responded to Three Flags Store on Eleventh Street in Weldon to a report of an attempted robbery.

A clerk was threatened with a knife and a man later identified as Jonathan Michael Medlin, 31, of Roanoke Rapids, attempted to steal money from the register.

Medlin left the store after a brief struggle with the store clerk and was apprehend outside of the business by deputies.

Deputy Brittany Warren and Sergeant Chris Boden charged Medlin with attempted armed robbery and simple assault.

Medlin was placed in the Halifax County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond with a November 4 court date pending.

Detective D.C. Dickens reported the sheriff's office received a report of a barrel racing horse being shot on Gregory Farm Road in Halifax.

Dickens said the sheriff's office is investigating to determine whether the shooting was intentional or otherwise.
