Lieutenant Mike Sledge of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office said Odell’s arrest Wednesday is not believed to be related to the arrests of three people earlier this month in the Pendleton area where evidence of a meth lab was discovered.
The woman’s arrest Wednesday came as Down East Task Force agents, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office and the Conway Police Department worked with the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office on following up on drug complaints in the Pine Street area of Conway.
Agents discovered what appeared to be meth precursor outside and inside the residence. The precursor included Camp Fuel and Sudafed, Sledge said.
A search warrant was issued and the SBI Clandestine Lab Team responded to remove the hazardous material from the residence.
Task force agents arrested and charged Odell with felony manufacture of methamphetamine, felony possession with intent to manufacture precursor, and possess precursor chemical with intent to manufacture methamphetamine.
She received a $30,000 secured bond was scheduled for a first court appearance today.
Sledge said it was not clear whether there was an alleged attempt by Odell to use precursor to make meth for sale or personal use.
“I’m proud of the results I am seeing from the Down East Drug Task Force,” Northampton Sheriff Jack Smith said in a statement. “My agents and other members of the Down East Drug Task Force are working hard on combating illegal narcotics in the three counties of Hertford,Northampton and Bertie.”
He was also appreciative of the efforts of the SBI, Conway Police Department and Hertford and Bertie sheriff’s offices. “The sheriff’s office and the Down East Drug Task Force will continue to follow up on all drug complaints throughout Northampton County.’
