City to also consider Project Chips

The city will consider joining in an economic development project which county commissioners approved Monday.

Roanoke Rapids City Manager Joseph Scherer this evening presented council a $16,525,626 budget for the upcoming fiscal year which will not raise taxes.

Several major capital expenses within the city's proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year may be funded through loans, documents and discussion during Wednesday's work session show.

State Employees' Credit Union has agreed to build a decorative fence to display the banners honoring veterans on Tenth Street when it builds its new branch.

Officers recognized at council meeting

Roanoke Rapids Police Chief Chuck Hasty and the Halifax Resolves Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution honored officers during this evening's city council meeting.

MaSuki Incorporated may now proceed with building a luxury apartment complex in Villages at Cross Creek after Roanoke Rapids City Council approved the company's revised conditional use permit request this evening.

Two previously frozen positions could be filled in the upcoming fiscal year depending on results of analysis by Roanoke Rapids City Manager Joseph Scherer and the finance department.
