The Halifax Resolves Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution honored a longtime officer for his community policing efforts during Tuesday’s city council meeting.

In a move demonstrating an underlying confidence the theater will eventually be sold, Roanoke Rapids City Council this evening agreed to send a refinancing proposal to the Local Government Commission which could represent substantial savings over what it currently pays on the venue’s debt.

The city will go before the Local Government Commission next month with a resolution which is the first formal step in reducing its current debt on the Roanoke Rapids Theatre.

The Chaloner Recreation Center pool repair project has received a $10,000 boost from a local ministry.

The Roanoke Rapids High School Army JROTC posted colors at this evening’s city council meeting.

Obviously, there was a pragmatic, cold, number-crunching side which led to the unanimous approval of Chaloner pool repairs Tuesday night.
