Man charged with vehicle B&E

A Roanoke Rapids man who has pending court dates in two other counties was arrested Wednesday after allegedly breaking into a vehicle in the 300 block of Roanoke Avenue.

One of two men still wanted in a residential breaking and entering on Franklin Street was taken into custody Wednesday.

A mistaken call which went to a drug agent’s number led to a man’s arrest on marijuana and cocaine charges today.

The City County Drug Task Force reported the following, according to Captain A.M. Harris:

One man was served outstanding warrants Tuesday and two are wanted in a case where aluminum windows, appliances and other items were stolen from the inside and outside of a house in what is traditionally called the “no-hundred” block of Franklin Street.

In his report to council this evening, City Manager Joseph Scherer briefed the panel on several upcoming items and projects.

The Roanoke Rapids Fire Department recognized its newly hired firefighters and two who received promotions to roving engineers.
