The North Carolina Works Career Center, the Turning Point Workforce Development Board and the city of Roanoke Rapids are sponsoring a job readiness summit July 13, 14, and 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kirkwood Adams Civic Center on Hamilton Street.

A Weldon man was charged Tuesday night after fleeing the scene of a shooting in the 300 block of Madison Street.
The Roanoke Rapids Graded School District is in the process of replacing faucets and piping at Clara Hearne Pre-K following a report in the spring which showed concentrations of lead in sinks and a water fountain at the facility.
