A Roanoke Rapids Republican has announced he will run against Senator Ed Jones and a Scotland Neck Libertarian is going to run for state Representative Michael Wray’s seat in the May 8 primary.

In the latest filings reported by Halifax County Board of Elections Office, Warren Scott Nail of Roanoke Rapids filed to run in the Republican primary for Jones’s seat. Jones is the incumbent Democrat in the District 4 senate race.

Jessie Edwin Shearin Jr., filed to run as Libertarian in the House 27 district race in which Wray is the incumbent Democrat who is being challenged by James Edward Mills of Scotland Neck.

A challenger, Charles Hedgepeth of Enfield is running as a challenger in the Halifax County Board of Education race.
