Two men facing charges in other crimes were charged Wednesday in an armed robbery that occurred July 6 in Weldon.

Detective R. Somogyi of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office charged Donovan Edwards, 16, and Motique Jackson, 19, in the robbery, which occurred at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Sycamore Street.
Edwards was recently charged in a shooting on Interstate 95 while Jackson was charged in a breaking and entering. Edwards was served his warrant for the armed robbery in jail, Somogyi said this morning.
The armed robbery occurred after Edwards and Jackson allegedly knocked the victim off his bicycle.
One of the suspects pointed a handgun at the victim while the other took the victim’s wallet. The suspects then fled in a vehicle.
The victim received minor injuries and refused treatment.
Jackson and Edwards, both of Weldon, were charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Jackson was placed into the Halifax County Jail under a $20,000 bond and Edwards under an $18,000 bond. Both have September 19 court dates.
